The non-profit Legionnaire Insurance Trust (LIT) was founded in 1966 to offer participating American Legion members the opportunity to obtain high-quality Department endorsed insurance products at rates that reflect the massive group buying power of the Legion Departments.

Today, over 30 years after its inception, 48 Departments of The American Legion, representing more than 2,000,000 members, participate in the LIT. Over a million of these members are enrolled in programs. And, more than $100 million in claim benefits have been paid to Legionnaire families.
